Broome<\/a>, assistant professor and program director of preK-12, middle and secondary education in the College of Education, is a founding editorial board member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.ku.edu\/index.php\/jmr\/index\">Journal of Montessori Research<\/a>, housed at the University of Kansas.<\/p><p>The journal is the official research publication of the <a href=\"https:\/\/amshq.org\/\">American Montessori Society (AMS).<\/a><\/p><p>&ldquo;The American Montessori Society (AMS) is the foremost advocate for quality Montessori education, an innovative, child-centered approach to learning. AMS sets the high professional standards that inform Montessori education as practiced in AMS-accredited schools and taught in AMS-affiliated teacher education programs&rdquo; (<a href=\"https:\/\/amshq.org\/About-AMS\">About AMS)<\/a>.<\/p><p>Dr. Broome&rsquo;s <a href=\"http:\/\/eric.ed.gov\/?id=ED533932\">dissertation work<\/a>, at the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia, explored adolescent civic engagement practices at a Montessori middle school. His Montessori research as been published in the <a href=\"http:\/\/education.ucf.edu\/jssr\/docs\/Vol35Issue1.pdf\">Journal for Social Studies Research<\/a> and presented at the premiere conferences for Montessori and experiential learning, including the <a href=\"http:\/\/montessoricongress.org\/\">International Montessori Congress<\/a> hosted by <a href=\"http:\/\/ami-global.org\/\">Association Montessori Internationale (AMI)<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aera.net\/\">American Educational Research Association (AERA)<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.socialstudies.org\/cufa\">College and University Faculty Assembly<\/a> (CUFA) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.socialstudies.org\/internationalassembly\">International Assembly<\/a> (IA) of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.socialstudies.org\/\">National Council for the Social Studies<\/a> (NCSS).<\/p><p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>John P.
