{"id":124871,"date":"2016-08-18T10:48:10","date_gmt":"2016-08-18T14:48:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/umweagleeye.wpengine.com\/?p=124871"},"modified":"2016-08-18T10:50:56","modified_gmt":"2016-08-18T14:50:56","slug":"staff-advisory-council-news-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webarchive.umw.edu\/eagleeye\/2016\/08\/18\/staff-advisory-council-news-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Staff Advisory Council News"},"content":{"rendered":"<?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><p><strong>LARRY ATKINS AWARD<\/strong><\/p><p>The Staff Advisory Council is now accepting nominations for the <a href=\"http:\/\/adminfinance.umw.edu\/hr\/employee-relations\/employee-recognition-2\/employee-recognition\/university-recognition-awards\/s-a-c-s-larry-atkins-award\/\">Larry Atkins Award<\/a>.&nbsp; Larry was one of the first employees to receive the S.A.C. &ldquo;<em>We Couldn&rsquo;t Do it Without You Award.<\/em>&rdquo; That award was renamed in his honor.<\/p><p>Larry Atkins Award winners:<\/p><ul>\n<li>lend a helping hand to their teammates<\/li>\n<li>go above and beyond in each and every task while wearing a smile<\/li>\n<li>set a positive example for other UMW employees<\/li>\n<\/ul><p>S.A.C. chooses 3 winners &ndash; 1 wage employee, 1 classified employee, and 1 administrative faculty employee.&nbsp; All UMW employees are eligible to nominate and to be nominated for one of the three awards.<\/p><p>All nominations must be received by 5pm Monday, September 12th.&nbsp; Winners will be announced by S.A.C. at the Fall Employee gathering, and winners will receive $100.<\/p><p>To nominate someone, use the following link and complete the form. <a href=\"http:\/\/adminfinance.umw.edu\/hr\/employee-relations\/employee-recognition-2\/employee-recognition\/university-recognition-awards\/s-a-c-s-larry-atkins-award\/larrty-atkins-award-form\/\">Larry Atkins Award nomination form<\/a><\/p><p>If you have questions please contact John Symonds <a href=\"mailto:jsymonds@umw.edu\">jsymonds@umw.edu<\/a> or Pam Lowery at <a href=\"mailto:plowery@umw.edu\">plowery@umw.edu<\/a><\/p><p><strong><br>\nFITBIT CHALLENGE<br>\n<\/strong>The Summer Fitness Challenge continues through this Saturday, Aug. 20. &nbsp;Human Resources and the Staff Advisory Council are promoting and encouraging UMW employees to participate, get fit, and have fun! Final entries must be submitted by 8 a.m. on Aug. 24<sup>&nbsp;<\/sup>on the <a href=\"http:\/\/adminfinance.umw.edu\/hr\/employee-relations\/worklife\/summer-2016-activity-tracker\/\">FitBit Challenge Form<\/a>.<\/p><p><strong><br>\nSAC SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE<br>\n<\/strong>The UMW Staff Advisory Council partnered with the Spotsylvania County School District and the Courthouse Academy for Special Needs for this year&rsquo;s Back to School Supply Drive to support kids in need. School Supply Drives help provide supplies that students need in order to succeed in school. These supplies go a long way for kids who need them the most. The SAC will be collecting school supply donations until Sept. 2.<\/p><p><a href=\"http:\/\/files.umwblogs.org\/sites\/4570\/2016\/07\/27070430\/School-Supply-Drive-20161.pdf\">Click here<\/a> to access a flyer for drop box locations to post in your area to raise awareness and get colleagues involved.<\/p><p><strong>EXCELLENT EAGLE EMPLOYEE<br>\n<\/strong>Please don&rsquo;t forget to nominate your co-workers, supervisor, or employees for the <strong>Excellent Eagle Employee<\/strong> award, simply send an email to <a href=\"mailto:eenominations@umw.edu\">eenominations@umw.edu<\/a> with <em>Excellent Eagle Employee<\/em> in the subject line.
