Two exciting new exhibitions are on display: The 2025 Annual Student Art Exhibition <\/i>and Self Adjacent, <\/i>a traveling exhibition about parenthood.<\/i><\/b><\/p>

2025 Annual Student Art Exhibition on display now through April 27.<\/figcaption><\/figure>

On display in DuPont Gallery <\/b>April 8 – April 27,<\/b> the Annual Student Art Exhibition<\/i> showcases the incredible talent and creativity of UMW students. This year’s guest juror is New York-based painter and writer Jason Stopa, who joined us on campus last month to meet the students and give a talk. Out of 98 submissions, Stopa selected 40 artworks by 30 students. It really is a stunning exhibition of the strengths and skills of our student community.<\/p>

On view in the Ridderhof Martin Gallery<\/b> April 8 – June 1, Self Adjacent<\/i> examines the transforming experience of parenthood by artists as they navigate their many identities alongside and within the field of caregiving. Featuring the diverse viewpoints of twenty artists from across North America, Self Adjacent<\/i> includes photography, performance, painting, printmaking, video, textile, and sculpture. The exhibition traveled to the Visual Arts Center in Richmond, Massey Klein Gallery in Manhattan, and the Kennedy Museum of Art in Athens, Ohio, before coming to UMW.<\/p>

Self Adjacent <\/i>was curated by Sarah Irvin and Tracy Stonestreet. Artists include: Alberto Aguilar, Robin Assner-Alvey, Christa Donner, Travis Donovan, Meg Foley, Kate Gilmore, LaToya Hobbs, Sarah Irvin, Kevin and Jen Johnson, Carmichael Jones, Courtney Kessel, Chloé Clevenger, Colleen Merrill, Qiana Mestrich, Sarah Sudhoff, Emilia White, William Glaser Wilson, Megan Wynne, and Bohyun Yoon.<\/p>

Hours & Admission: <\/b>Gallery hours are Wednesday-Sunday from 10am-4pm except on holidays and during student breaks. Admission is always free and tours are available.
