This page provides materials for UMW faculty opposed to the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) plans to change the plan administrator for the VRS Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). Campuses across the commonwealth are organizing a campaign of contacting VRS officials and legislators. I am calling on all UMW faculty who are concerned about this issue to write or email VRS and DHRM to express your concerns.<\/span><\/strong> It is best to communicate with VRS with a cc: to members of the legislature. A table with a list of suggested individuals to copy can be found below. You can identify your representatives with the link below.<\/p>

Please send your emails and letters as soon as possible<\/span><\/strong>.  This effort will be most effective if we each write our own letters, but if you have a letter you’re proud of and would like to share it with other faculty members to use as a model, send me a copy and I will post it on this page.<\/p>

This will be a coordinated effort.  Faculty members from other affected universities (including Old Dominion University, James Madison University, Radford University, Norfolk State University, Virginia State University, Christopher Newport University, and Longwood University) will likewise be taking part.  But please, don’t sit back and assume that someone else will take care of this.  We need everyone to help us flood VRS and members of the legislature with our communications<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>
