Present: Melody Denhere (Chair, CAS); Antonio Causarano (Secretary, COE); Marion Sanford (JFMC Director); Xiaofeng Zhao (COB); Jose Sainz (CAS); Davarien Sayles (Student Representative); Mariam Ansari (Student Representative).
\nApologies: Tracy Citeroni (CAS)<\/p>
1. Director’s Report<\/p>
• Updates of the activities-Marion updated the Committee on the upcoming activities for the Spring 2016 semester. She reported on the Martin Luther King Celebration and the upcoming Black History Month.
\n• Women of Color event was discussed as an important part of the Black History Month celebration.
\n• The Director also discussed the importance of the key note speaker for this event-Rasheed Cromwell. Within this discussion One Vocie Many Memories was introduced as an important event organized by the James Farmer Multicultural Center?.
\n• Islamic Cultural celebration and Women’s History celebration will take place in March.
\n• Islam and its view on terrorism will be part of a discussion to dismantle the myth that Islam is equal to terrorism.
\n• The Director also reported that she is working to enhance social action to address police violence against black youth
\n• Inclusion and campus climate initiative
\n• Culture competence initiative to address verbal oppression on campus
\n• Social justice retreat will be held in March<\/p>
